Thanks

First off, we’d like to say our thank yous and farewells. We can’t believe it’s Friday already and our week here at Design*Sponge has come to a close! It’s been a great week and we’d like to thank everyone, especially Grace for allowing us to share what we love about design. Thanks for all your great comments, we are thrilled that our posts have inspired you and maybe even introduced you to something new. Remember, all it takes is a little inspiration and some colour to freshen things up around your home. So take another look at what you’ve got and make it work in a new way!

So, on Monday we wrote about being able to have beautiful things even if you’re on a tight budget. And since we’re both in the midst of paying back student loans, we are a couple of very thrifty ladies. We thought we’d share some of our most favourite finds with you. Hopefully they’ll inspire you to go check out a book sale or thrift store this weekend in search for something special.

This is a great little cat Matryoshka doll with a litter of nine small cats inside. The only marking left on it was part of a sticker that read “made in the USSR”.

How can we not love these mugs, all with such interesting patterns. The best part? All together, they cost about $2!

Some of our favourite things to search for are vintage teacups and saucers. All of our sets (with the exception of one) were bought for about $5 each, so keep your eyes open!

We were so excited when we stumbled upon these aqua fiberglass chairs (bought as a set of 2). Great colour and form for next to nothing.

thrift21.jpg
This chair was part of a major score for us. It, along with 2 other similar chairs, were about $3 a piece. And the side table was a thrift store purchase, too!

Well that’s all for us! You all know where we’ll be, so drop by and visit us at perfectbound anytime!

All the best,
Julie & Kathryn

Those tea cups and saucers are so beautiful! I have a pure black one with a red rose on it from my Great Aunt and I can’t get enough of it! I need to add more to my collection (:
