artist mia pearlman sent over a link to her work this weekend and i was immediately struck by her incredible cut paper sculptures. she’s done several series of cut-paper installations at galleries in new york in boston, including a show called maelstrom currently on at the smack mellon gallery in brooklyn. the photos of mia’s work are incredible but i have no doubt that they’re even more breathtaking in person, so if you’re in the nyc area i highly suggest checking out one of her two shows in dumbo and chelsea right now. click here for more information and gallery directions and dates. [thanks, mia!]

I love how powerful something as simple and neutral as paper can be. Incredible.
Your website is the best. I never know what I will find like this post. I went to high school with Mia, and it’s so nice to see her success.

So fragile, so delicate, so original! I’m coming in from the wilds of PA to see Mia’s work at the Smack Mellon this month.
What an awesome display – very original – makes me think of paper in a different light – bravo Mia!
hey everyone – since you clearly enjoy Mia Pearlman’s work as much as I do, check out my post. It has a pictorial timeline of Mia’s evolution as an artist, as well as an interview with the ARTIST herself this Friday!
