seth kushner + anthony lasala (the brooklynites)

brooklyn-based photographer seth kusher recently released a fantastic book of his photography (along with writer anthony lasala) called the brooklynites. our friend jon at standard motion was featured in the book and i’ve been paying special attention to seth’s work since we heard about jon’s cameo. so i was delighted to find out that seth was the photographer for a brooklyn-based design project in which recently took part. i can promise i certainly wasn’t as interesting as some of the subjects he shot for the book so i thought i’d share their photos instead.

i love the way seth captured the diversity of brooklyn both in its inhabitants and architecture. flipping through the book it was great to catch glimpses of people like spike lee, sufjan stevens, steve buscemi, john turturro and my personal favorite yana toyber, the first photo above. it’s a fascinating tour through the borough i call home so if you’re looking for a great gift you can check out seth’s book right here.

These portraits are great. And the name makes me think of the great song with the same title by Soul Coughing. They would be great in a slide show together.
