Every year, there seems to be one random place where I end up finding a great gift for someone. Last Christmas, it was the local car wash, which has a small gift shop. There, on my way to Christmas Eve dinner – talk about last-minute! – I picked up a NYC travel guidebook for my sister-in-law.
This year, Drugstore.com looks like it may be my random gift resource. Until 11:59pm ET tonight, they’re offering free standard shipping with delivery by December 24. This promotion is for new customers, but it’s so easy to get a new, free email address these days – anyone can be a new customer!
I love that the site even has a countdown at the top of the homepage so you can see how much time you have left to take advantage of the promo. (Pssst … Since Beauty.com and Drugstore.com are sister sites, they share a shopping bag – and the free shipping deal applies to both.)
And, no, buying gifts at Drugstore does not mean that everyone will get a bottle of Advil. (Although that’s not such a bad present, in my opinion.) They have all sorts of gift baskets, toys and games, baby items, and even electronic gadgets. But below are some of my personal faves that are available on the site:
Gift basket
Toys and games
Baby items
Electronic gadgets
I’ve been a longtime fan of the Philosophy products and they have these neat little gift sets – like the “All Stars” travel set ($35) and the “Kiss, Kiss, Kiss” holiday lip trio ($25).
Once upon a time, I was lucky enough to stay at the Mandarin Oriental in NYC. And that is where I first experienced the Fresh products and fell in love with them. Their Sugar Cubes bath fizzies ($32) and Rice Sake Bath ($80) would be a good gift for the friend who likes to be pampered. I dig the packaging, too.
To me, Red Flower candles ($34 each) remind me of spa visits. And that’s a good thing. There are nine fragrances to choose from, but I’m partial to Thai Honeysuckle.
I know this doesn’t sound very exciting, but I know this is a total necessity in my house: Laundress’ wool & cashmere shampoo ($18).
