Anh-Minh’s Last Minute Gift Ideas (Artstar Philly)

Sure, being in the Bay Area, there are lots of great shops that carry up-and-coming artists. But I still find myself constantly browsing Art Star Philly to check out their latest art and ceramic pieces. Luckily for last-minute shoppers, they can ship overnight all over the country.

Eleanor Grosch’s fox mugs ($10 each, above) would make any cup of coffee just a little finer. Available in grey or yellow.

I have a set of Little Flower Designs’ teacups and may need to add the “One Scoop Bowl” to my ceramics collection ($15 each). So cute – plus dishwasher, microwave, and oven-safe.

Art Star carries a number of dolls – including the Mr. Pickles designs that I’m crazy about ($20 each). Pictured here are Mean Larry Lambshank and NutNut. (Too bad Mr. Pickles himself is sold out!)

My favorite section of the site is the “Prints.” There’s lots to choose from, in a range of prices. The Belle and Boo prints above are $20 each.

And, just in case you’re on the lookout for a great 2008 calendar, check out Kurt Halsey’s ($24).

Art Star also carries glasses ($24) and bookmarks ($2) designed by Kurt.

In this world of emails and text messages, isn’t it a welcome change to get a handwritten note every once in a while? I love these Lindsey Benitz stationery sets – hand-printed notecards in hand-sewn fabric pouches ($35). Several patterns are available.

I, too, am a fan of Art Star and the delightful ladies who run the shop. Glad to see them getting much-deserved recognition and helping the art world along the way.
