last week when i was in san francisco meg mateo ilasco was kind enough to drive me around to some of her favorite spots. one of my favorite meg-stops was a shop called park life on clement street. i’d never been to their shop, let alone this area of the city, so the visit was a huge treat overall. park life has a nice sized gallery towards the back of their shop (i’m loving the way so many boutiques are including galleries in their stores these days) featuring several local artists. one of my favorites was hilary pecis. hilary recently graduated from the MA program at the california college of the arts and now creates beautiful artwork from her studio in the south mission (please correct me if i’m wrong on the neighborhood distinctions here). i was really blown away by hilary’s collages that combine illustration with what look like magazine clippings. from from away you’d never know they were collages- the colors are so beautiful and the illustrations are so crisp. park life’s current show is jam-packed with great artists so if you’re in the area be sure to check it out. if you’d like more information on hilary pecis just click here. (you can buy hilary’s pieces at park life: the prices, framed, are around $250)

Beautifully intricate work, I feel I am looking at some other world from my spaceship. Truely awesome!
