Today I want to share with you a little secret: I have some of the most talented studio mates in the universe. I wish I could write about all of them, but since there are six, that’d be hard. But today I am going to write about one of them: Misako Inaoko. Misako, or Misa as her friends call her, creates minuscule sculptures and site-specific installations that force viewers to focus on small details and, in her own words, “arouse notions of existence and coexistence, I construct environments that are rooted in the reality of vanishing species and mutating nature.” Misa’s work is so amazing—I love the way she uses bits of the natural and artificial to create the stuff of fantasy worlds. Oh, yah, and lucky me: I get to see her stuff as she makes it. Pretty cool.

This work is amazing ! I love the green tufts of moss on the walls , so cool and soothing (not creepy , no , just like a trick of nature , or a dream ) . The little owl with a fluffy hairdo-head is very nice too . You say these pieces are small : how small ?
the moss balls are so beautiful…
yes, the balls are my favorite too — though they ARE creepy, a little; I find that part of their charm. Cute is well cut with creepy. (Vid. Tom Otterness.)
