kelly wearstler + crimes of taste

k1
last friday night i went to the opening of the new kelly wearstler boutique at bergdorf goodman. i felt like a total fish out of water (but i did enjoy sitting in her crazy ultra-high back chairs) but it was worth it to listen to kelly and see her in person. she has the most adorable southern accent and fantastic pair of purple snakeskin heels. click here to read the full post and view her new collection of objets d’art for bergdorf.

i also visited the crimes of taste panel with john waters, simon doonan, mayer rus and rhonda lieberman. click here for the full story on that panel. it was quite a discussion, to say the least. with john waters alone you know you’re in for a fun time…

I really enjoyed reading your reports on these two events, esp. the parts about showing up unfashionably early and just having to sit in the big chair. (I just had to sit in one of the big chairs, too, when touring the Viceroy Palm Springs.)

Nice coverage, Grace. . . Know what you mean about listening to John Waters. I saw him speak at MICA this fall for their Constitution Day (along with Helen Thomas and Ralph Nadar) – he was a hoot! Best part is that he lives down the street from me (have yet to run into him though…).

John Waters is hysterical. I’m sure he’d make the obituaries funny. I wonder, tho, how he’s become a design person. He was quoted in the marketing materials for Dining By Design as well.

thanks for this post! i’ve stayed at the viceroy in santa monica several times now, and i LOVE it. just love it.

ooh, i wish i knew who the designer of her pink dress is. i really want it!

yeah blue, I was wondering the exact same thing, that pink dress is fabulous, I would love to have a dress like that. I love Kelly and her sense of style(she doesn’t give a damn and goes with what works for her), she is so polished!

This actually reminds me of a game my friends and I play called “that’s your boyfriend” where you can’t pick on anyone because of their age, weight, or other physical characteristic, but we pick boyfriends based on style. the winner is a guy in american flag muscleman pants with a long curly grey mullet (vegas 2001).
