
designer hunn wai is a masters candidate at the design academy eindhoven. there must be something in the water there because i’ve yet to see a student from that school that wasn’t incredibly talented. hunn sent over some photos of his work and i was smitten with his WXP shelf, shown above and below. hunn’s work is about “making joinery prominent again; to show how things come together and to reintroduce honesty and openness back into an environment of encapsulated products”. i love the way he’s connected these large, tooth-pick like pieces of beech with acrylic shelves- it looks like each piece just melted into the other. hunn’s work will be on display as part of dutch design week at the design academy eindhoven’s “graduation galleries 2007″ from october 20-28th if you’re in the area. oh to be in eindhoven during dutch design week- it sounds like heaven.
