this weekend ac and i poked around soho after he bit the bullet and decided to buy a vespa. it’s been a dream of his for a long time so we’re now the proud owners of a cute little black scooter. i look like a super-dork in my sparkly star helmet (girly all the way) but i’ll have to say, it’s a pretty piece of machinery. anyway, after he bought the bike we walked further up crosby street and stopped in michele varian. i’ve written about michele’s shop before but i’ve never actually been inside. what a dolt i’ve been! her shop is gorgeous. in addition to her pillows she carries a stunning collection of vintage objects, lighting, frames, artwork and little accessories like this owl tape measurer. i really had to keep myself from buying this little guy. i reminded myself that i already own two perfectly good ones from the hardware store but i’m really tempted to give this to someone as a gift. but if you’re in need of a fun tape measurer you can pick up this guy right here for $98.

Congrats on the Vespa! I love those dang things and have been racking up quite the scooter collection now.
In any case, just felt compelled to welcome another to the scooting community. And I love the blog and the new redesign – have been reading this daily for over a year now!
Wow, super creepy tape measure. But, sigh, I totally love it. I think my mom would give me a funny look if she saw me using it. Congrats on the Vespa purchase.
I have an EVT scooter, which is electric, and I love it! It doesn’t go as fast as a Vespa so it’s very lifestyle-specific (if you know all the slow roads and have time!), but in general scooters are so fun and cute it’s great to see them around. Congrats and enjoy!
Welcome to the scooter world- but beware: I bought myself an antique blue and white Lambretta last year and it’s classic 1960′s lines have been creeping into all my designs lately. It has officially high-jacked my personal style. (things could be much worse). have fun!
a vespa, how fun! i think this {and the sparkly helmet} needs to be added to the d*s sneek peek =)
Color me shocked that you’ve never been to Michele Varian before.
