One of my favorite things to do for Halloween is add Pocky legs to otherwise innocent desserts. This year I decided to make a few variations on chocolate cakes to see how they turned out.

The first is a small cake made in a domed pan that makes cakes you can fill. I decided to use raspberry coulis (I left the seeds in) and whipped cream as spider guts. I couldn’t help adding sugar eyes.

You can do the same thing without shaped pan, I also make cupcakes to fill.

If baking is out of the question, Pocky legs can transform a regular cupcake into something rather creepy. This is a Triple Chocolate from Trophy Cupcakes here in Seattle.

Spider legs can also be created by piping chocolate sauce or frosting onto the plate.

These are really cool!
i love these! if i had any of my nieces and nephews nearby i would do this as a hallowe’en project with them tomorrow, but sadly they are an ocean away. however, the last spider is adult enough for me to make on my own!
These are awesome! I especially loved that last spider.
i love the spiders, especially the filled ones. i like the idea about ghosting your neighbors, what an icebreaker~~
What fun!
Wish I had some young neighbors.

I just love this idea, not that we really celebrate Halloween, here in South Africa, I could always use this idea for birthday themes instead, or just because I can, it changes the whole look and feel of the cake just love it.
