Grace – if you want to do LA next year some time, let me know and I will be happy to help you plan :)

yup! just haven’t nailed a time and place yet. we’re visiting friends while we’re out there (it’s the only event ac is joining me for) so we need to confirm their schedule before we book anything :)

will announce soon though.

any thoughts on what will be discussed or who will be present at the chicago event? can’t wait!

the speakers will be announced soon but the general layout of the event goes like this:

7-7:30: meet and mingle time
7:30-8:30: rotate in small groups between “experts” focusing on: PR, wholesaling/getting your work in stores and galleries, legal issues and advice and a designer who’ll tell their story about taking an idea from concept to reality and expanding to deal with major national stores and licensing deals.
8:30-9: group q&a or further small group meetings.

do we need to rsvp at all? I’m worried you are going to get a huge turn out! – Amy

design*sponge

nope! no rsvp’s yet. just bring yourself and a snack. i’ll post details for the meetups ahead of time but if everyone brings a snack or drink we’re usually cool for however many people show up :)

I’m in Canada so no biz ladies for me… but I just wanted to say how much I love that you’re calling it a “tour”. So rock and roll! hee hee

You have an amazing blog here! I have just loved going through it for the past hour. I found it because I’m looking for something pretty specific… and now, I wonder if you might be able to help me find it since you have some similar things here.

It’s either a window curtain, wall hanging or shower curtain (I can’t remember exactly) and the design on it is a two-tone cut-out silhouette of a stag. Out of the lines of the stag’s antlers come tree branches, flowers, butterflies, birds and all manner of beautiful things with no repeat in the pattern, one thing growing out of the next. Below him, the image is mirrored as if in a pool of water. I can’t remember if the curtain is in black and white or chocolate brown and wasabi, but it is some highly contrasting combination like that. I think I saw it featured in a old Martha Stewart Living magazine from 2004 or thereabout. Have you ever seen anything like this or might you know what I’m talking about?

this may seem like a silly question, but did any guys attend the event in NY last year and are they welcome at the upcoming events?

design*sponge

talknpretty

not a silly question at all. but yes, this is a ladies-only event. there are lots of great similar, guy-friendly events across the country and i’d be happy to suggest some if anyone needs one :)
