i was inspired by a post at modern-roost the other day and decided to flesh out one of my favorite mini trends going around right now: kelly green. the kelly wearstler post, anthropologie furniture and pieces from our h&g color issue really got me thinking about this bold green hue. it’s often paired with navy blue and written off as a preppy choice (think whale prints and izods) but designers are starting to bring kelly green back in a way that’s thoroughly modern. i love it for summer because something about it is so crisp and clean. and, unlike some other bold colors, the preppy edge keeps things looking classy and rarely garish. what follows below (and above) are some of my favorite examples of kelly green in the market right now. some aren’t precisely kelly green but have that same bold green color that i felt was in line with the trend. hope you enjoy! What a delightful site! Just what I needed on this rainy, gray day! Judy and Sasha, bigwhitedog.com
Hey, if you like the sofa above with the modern “lillypad” fabric – you can replicate it by reupholstering existing furniture. The fabric is a Marimekko print called Bottna. You can buy it at Kiitos Marimekko for $38 per yard.

Hey I love your blogg! :) Have a great weekend :)
Kelly Green is right on… I was at CMG’s (Color Marketing Group) color workshops last Spring in Denver and got up on my soapbox about Kelly Green.
Kelly green is terrific. Be careful about too much, or it will overwhelm. This color was very popular in the 1970′s – along with Avocado – and as it “goes” with the current mid-century trend. While I’ve seen enough mid-century to last another half a century, I love the Kelly Green.
Being Irish I am very familiar with that colour. Nobody wears it over here although I do see it in the shops lately. The brits wear the union jack and the americans the stars and stripes banner but we irish never wear the tricolour. It’s not very flattering. I wore kellygreen and navy when I made my confirmation at 12 years of age. You are right about it going with navy. It’s nice with white for the summer. It’s also a very retro colour and retro is quite in these days. Love your site
Kelly green is my new favorite color. I especially like it as an unexpected pop in just about anything–clothing, room design, dinnerware.
Love your site–thanks!
Here is an idea
i love the couch on top. if that were in my house i’d feel like it was spring all the time.

ohhhh is there any way to get this Kelly Wearstler geometric fabric? I am trying to decorate my new apartment in navy and kelly green mod geometric patterns but am having trouble finding fabric. Any suggestions?
Mmmm – love that Kelly green at the Viceroy SM. We recently interviewed Kelly for our travel blog, as she designed pretty much all our favourite hotels in LA - if you’re interested you can check it out here: http://blog.mrandmrssmith.com/2008/10/kelly-wearstler-interview-hotel-design/
@ Kelly above: your namesakey has, I believe, just launched a range of her own fabrics and carpets etc, which presumably would suit your needs perfectly :-)
Hello I feel really inspired by those designs…I am french illustrator lady looking for a friendly network …..suggestions ?

I love this site……specially mini-trend.When u r going to add more trends…….????
Love the Kelly green–vibrant and fresh! The green couch paired with gray is fabulous.
I think the fabric on the Josef Frank chair is gorgeous;the link takes me to Anthropologie where I see lots of fabulous chairs and fabrics but not this chair and not this fabric. Anyone know what fabric that is?
What a fantastic and inspiring site. I SO loved this Kelly Green page – all the items are elegant and classic. Well done for putting together such a clever mix of beautiful products!
Such terrific finds! Thank you ~!
I and apparently every other bride this summer thought wonders about Kelly Green as well. It’s an all too difficult color to find for bridesmaids dresses however, which was surprising given that I’d considered it fairly traditional. Hoorah for Kelly Green!
Never been a fan of Kelly and his/her green. Never will, I’m afraid.
The Kelly Green is great. I’m seeing this being used a lot more now. Great finds!
I’m in the process of building a house and want to cover two of my parent’s old arm chairs from the 70′s in a Kelly Green fabric – just plain, similar to the couch at the viceroy. Any suggestions as to where I can find a good Kelly Green fabric? (no pattern)
Help would be SO appreciated!!!

i’d try purlsoho.com and reprodepot.com :)

Fabric from couch pictured?
I am loving the green, not just because I am Irish!!!!!
I love green and I love it in my kitchen! If you love it too you might like the new Verde Berry Bowl from our Spring Catalog! Check it out evelyn.willowhouse.com
Love the bold graphic look! I am thrilled to see it come back!
I absolutley agree with this trend. It is so refreshing to see Kelly Green take center stage and kick Chartreuse out of the picture. After the past four years it is definitely time for the avocado 70′s throw-back to hand over the title of the ‘it’ shade of green.
Love it!
I love green and these… my eyes just pop… so rich with ideas and colors.
