kelly wearstler: iron interior decorator?

for all her hair crimping and crazy socks/heels wearing, kelly wearstler is one of my favorite interior designers. her talent off camera is part of the reason the show has been so off-putting for me lately. her work with the viceroy hotel inspired most of the decor inside my last apartment so i thought i’d highlight some of her best work to date. perhaps my memory of the crazy hair can be dulled by visions of stunning interiors. she certainly has a way with color and pattern- i wish we could see HER take on these challenges. now THAT would be a fun show. like iron chef, but iron interior decorator…maybe someone could make that show? please? face-offs i’d like to see:

any face-offs you’d like to see? maybe a network will listen…

Just to comment about your face-offs- Celerie “designed” my house and totally made a mess of it.
Not only do I think that she is one of the worst designers I have ever worked with but her socialite status constantly got in the way of her “work”. She shouldnt even be considered.

Wow, anonymous, you should tell us more (do you have a weblog)? I wish that imperial trellis hadn’t been used by Chloe Sevigny because now I would feel unoriginal if I used it in my foyer. It’s very beautiful. Grace, I’ve been thinking – we can’t let Kelly’s pathetic wardrobe turn us off. Her interiors are amazing. Isn’t that like being mean to the goths or the stoners despite them being nice people or brill artists?

kelly is definitely one of the most talented designers, i think we are unfairly picking on her… i could go on about someone’s boring bowl cut, drab, banana republic outfits, plain jane look, get what i mean

GAILE GUEVARA

It’s unfortunate to critique work without really understanding the scope of the project or budget or site constraints of a project … as much as design is subjective … most people don’t realize what goes into a project

I appreciate Kelly’s style, as much as I am more of a modern minimalist at heart … I do love her style statement in her interiors … unique and a little bit of the glam Hollywood approach -

Ben Bennett

Love Jonathan and Kelly, but Miles Redd must be on this list also! He’s brilliant, and a sweet guy to boot.

How about Ruthie vs. Mary McDonald??

I agree with the Celerie comments…very uninspiring stuff….

Re: Kelly, its not her outfits….its that voice, that nasal voice!! I was shocked to hear it coming out of such an amazing package…oh well, can’t have it all….

I am surprised at the comments. I think Kelly’s style at first glance can be refreshing. However, once you’ve seen one Wearstler design, you have seen them all.

It is the same theme over and over. I would like to see Kelly do something “not so Kelly.” Her work is too predictable.

Please…Celerie, is she even a designer?

I am not impressed.

I was suprised to learn that Kelly Was a playmate in 1994! Yikes! I still love her style. Admit it, even with the crazy socks, she’s an amazing designer.

i have admired Kelly’s work for some time and think its brilliant how in her books she joined fashion and interiors together while at the same time featuring herself as the celebrity. The potential for products designed with her name is endless, especially since her personal fashion has generated so much buzz. smart woman!!
