[image above: Designer Anki Spets at Area Home makes some of my favorite bedding on the market. I own her “Pins” sheet set but this “Bulb” pattern in lavender is a fantastic alternative. Choose from lavender or “sea” colorways ranging from $35- $190 at]

[image above: Missoni’s colorful bedding is a wonderful way to perk up any bedroom. These two patterns, Isotta and Isaak are perfect for adding a little color to a guest room or just tossing over your bed for cooler nights. Available at from $65-$571]

[image above: Koko’s line of bedding is full of rich, saturated colors that would wake up any bedroom. I’m partial to their Kaleidoscope and Saigon collections, available at for $238]

[image above: I’m a sucker for Jonathan Adler’s bold patterns and classic color combinations. His ‘Hollywood’ collection (shown above) is available at for $40-$145]

[image above: Dwell’s most recent collection of bedding was a welcome departure from the bold geometric prints for which they’d become known. I love their ‘Draper Stripe’ bedding for its elegant simplicity and reasonable pricing. You can pick up Dwell’s ‘Draper Stripe’ in duvet form for $276 at]

[image above: Two of my favorite bedding designers in the market are Wenlan Chia of Twinkle by Wenlan and the incomparable Mr. Calvin Klein. Calvin Klein’s bedding has long been celebrated for its clean look and rich colors (his Bamboo Flowers collection was made famous when Sex and the City used it for Sarah Jessica Parker’s bed) and his Abaca Weave collection at Macy‘s ($20-$173) is a wonderful example. Need something with a little more pattern? Try Twinkle Living‘s ‘Lego Brown’ duvet cover, $155-$190 at]

[image above: Sometimes I prefer to opt for texture over a bold pattern, in which case I always turn to Fold Bedding. This bold red “Slim Wool” bedding is made from 100% wool flannel and is available at for $504-$514.]

[image above: If you want texture in your bedding but not so much color, try Brocade Home’s textured ‘Ribbon Quilt’ for $149-$249 at]

[image above: If duvets aren’t your thing, try Unison Home’s Wideband Quilt. I love the thick bands of color on channel quilting. Available for $210-$275 at]

[image above: This bold pattern from Area Home is perfect for kids and adults alike. Area’s ‘Four’ duvet is made of four different patterned and colored panels that you can mix and match with shams in each pattern. Available at for $60-$170.]

[image above: Denyse Schmidt’s bedding is a wonderful way to bring real craftsmanship into your home. Each of her handmade quilts is a piece of artwork that you can use every day. Choose from a wide range of styles and colors at (prices range from $105-$280)]

[image above: Last but not least, something simple for those who like their bedding to be understated: Matteo’s ‘Vintage Cotton’ bedding at Choose from three colorways ranging from $60-$375]

Oddly enough, you’ll find some nice modern bedding at affordable prices at Kohl’s (apt. 9 brand) and Macy’s (style and Co.)!
