every once in a while you stumble on something and wonder where the heck you’ve been. i must have been living under a rock to miss these gorgeous tiles by british artist lee hanson. while my mom was in town last week we popped in to abc’s cursive shop to say hi to mk wong and look for christmas tags. we both ended up walking out with lee’s gorgeous tiles instead. i picked up a bronze horse tile (above, in my kitchen) and my mom grabbed the metallic sandpiper. lee’s work is just plain stunning. each tile has a beautiful hand made feel that combines animal imagery (lots of birds) with details like lace texturing or just a touch of metallic paint. the metallics were without a quesion my favorite but it’s definitely worth a click over to cursive’s site to check them out. i think they are a GREAT gift idea for the holiday (ps: look for the d*s holiday gift guide the week before thanksgiving)- prices range from $53-$95 a piece and are available through cursive (all orders can be placed over the phone).
