when i was in chicago i talked to a lot of midwestern design students. a large portion of them were focused on electronic and large appliance design, so the furniture designers stood out to me in a big way. one of my favorites was the university of kansas’ suzannah johannes. suzannah was as sweet as she is talented and had a real knack for picking up on design trends while staying true to her interests in the arts and crafts movement. these two pieces, a baroque inspired table and lamp were some of my favorites. they’re older pieces so i’m going to stay in touch with suzannah as she keeps working to see where she goes next, but i just wanted to share her work with everyone. i think we’re going to see more of her as she continues to grow and experiment as a designer. thanks, suzannah! if you’d like to contact suzannah, you can reach her here.

This table is killer. I love the fusion of modern + antique done so cleanly but also ornately. That’s really hard to pull off but somehow this designer has done it.
Is this something that can be purchased?

Sooooo good.

Not often one sees things that look both fresh and familiar.

Good for Suzannah.

Great! A real sense of style and one of the most tasteful demonstrations of this very popular fusion style.
