kiuchi brewery *

white_ale-bottle

i’m a sucker for great packaging and this beer by japanese company kiuchi brewery was too cute to pass up. while waiting for a table at little dishes in park slope (the night i saw harold from top chef) i spotted this beer and came back the next night to bring a bottle home. kiuchi makes a beer called “hitachino nest” that was created in 1996 that has a hint of their traditional sake brewing method mixed in. it’s clearly the owl character that hooked me because well, i’m not a big beer person. click here for more info on kiuchi and their cute owl beer. enjoy! (with a lemon slice, preferably)

not only are these beers cute, they’re also terrific to drink!
the white nest beer is a particular favorite of mine, so not only will you look super cute sipping one of these at your local bar, you’ll also look super chic as they’re considered a sort of “cult” beer
prost!

this is good beer. drink it out of a glass with the bottle stationed on the bar next to the glass! and no lemon slices please … drinking (a) straight from the bottle or (b) with a lemon slice only makes you look uninitiated. I’m being serious here.

uninitiated? like, into the fun owl beer club?

i like my white beer with lemon slices, tastes yummy, initiated or not.

to each his own ;)

Hide

Hi! This is Hide from Japan .This beer is from my hometown. Actually, my girlfriend, who is a designer, saw this homepage and showed me . White Ale won Gold at the world Beer Cup in 2004. Kiuchi Syuzo (Brewery) also makes Yuzu Ale and Espresso Porter beer. These labels are also cute.

haha i bought this beer strictly for the packaging too. i didn’t like the beer much (it was good, just not my taste), but i saved the bottle and set in on my windowsill. my cat knocks it over almost every day.
