modern floral

flower power has graduated to the next level- today’s designs embrace all things floral, but with a new, modern twist. whether it’s an upholstered chair or a bold new wallpaper design, flowers are popping up all over- sometimes in the most unlikely of places. designers are putting their spin on the traditional floral motif- whether they use new materials like laser-cut steel or update a petal design to reflect contemporary interests, modern designers are leading the way for the contemporary flower power movement. so, check out these designs and get a little spring flower look going on in your apartment. enjoy! Just wanted you to know that I LOVE this mini trends section of the site… and I particularly love this floral collection.

sarah

hey,

This is great! i notice these kinds of trends around, but it’s great to see such a cohesive compilation and formalisation.

i particularly like the texlile/oject marriage – something i’m into; and the multifacets – something i might experiment with.

cheers sarah

Hi,

on the topic of multifaceted design you should look up Federation Square in Melbourne, Australia. It’s pretty crazy and definitey fits the category in an asymmetrical way, kinda like the orrefors vase.

great site!

I purchased two of the astrid chairs from Anthropologie. I loved the large floral design. It has been my inspiration for everything I do. I love the mod fabric on the traditional chair style. It makes me happy every time I look at them. They really inspire me. Thanks, Rebecca

I’m obsessed with modern florals. I really enjoyed this posting. A beautiful modern floral is always perfect on a dress.

A gorgeous feature which proves that florals will never loose their appeal!!!
Could find a place in my lounge for the chair!!

I coveted the Anthropologie Astrid chair for more than a year and finally splurged last year. I love it! But its listed at $1,298 on their website (which is what I paid), and Design Sponge lists it above at only $798. I WISH that was all I had paid!

I just picked up a fabulous antique wingback at an estate sale for $5. Any recommendations for a good ‘how to’ website on reupholstering?

Sarah

I picked up a super ugly antique chair at an estate sale for $5. Half-tempted to try my hand at recovering it with some super sexy floral….it looks so difficult though! And I think you need special tools…
