lepage new york is a design studio run by cec lepage who specializes in cut lucite designs. d*s reader, whitney passed her work on to me. i’m not quite sure how i feel about it. i like the way some of the vases and lamps work, but the d*s jury is still sort of out. thought i’d let you guys decide what you thought. they’re also not on the cheap side. (something about them reminds me of the jetsons. don’t know why)

I actually like the vase. I think there’s something interesting there. The lamp, not so much a fan of. I feel it looks unfinished and not as “clean” looking as the vase. I think the overall design of the vase is unique. I think the Jetsons come to mind because of the 60′s look to, I’m not even sure if the Jetsons were a product of the 60′s but I can see how it reminds you of it.

There is a weird Picasso-esque thing going on with these that I find attracive, however there is also this 80′s look with the bright colors and shapes to them which I don’t like. I don’t mind the ones in neutral colors…

I like what they’re trying to do, but the overall result of the pieces, especially when grouped, is somewhat cartoonish.

the ginza boogey vases are very similar indeed. i’ll have to get a date on the lepage versions, because she’s been working since 1981, so they may have actually come out before the boogey vases, which came out in 2003. i’ll update with details when i get them..

Wow…Tomoko Mizu…deisgned 2003… interesting… The vases Tomoko designed are lovely and actually referencial to her work. LePage began sculpting in lucite in 1979. Her Home collection launched in 1990, featuring the vases in 1993. In addition Tomoko Mizu’s design interpration is mass produce and therefor cheeper.

If timeline is telling all one has to do is the math.
