there are tons of cardboard chairs out there, frank gehry has some...
if you are in the los angeles area, you can go to r-23 for sushi and test out their cardboard chairs...quite sturdy.

In response to Emily's question about the cardboard chair. It is sturdy and can support my weight (180lb) and more I'm sure. Each piece has 8 sheets of cardboard laminated with regular white glue. The joints are tight enough to keep it from moving too much. Other than that there is no other reinforcement. And, like mentioned it isn't used on a daily basis- maybe with some additions it could be though.
Making it was really simple and didn't take too long. Just glue the sheets together and cut them out on a band saw.
